Jamie finally convinced me that we needed a Mac. I feel a little bit like a traitor, since I’ve always complained rather loudly about the arrogance of “Macvangelists.” But, I did get one very nice side benefit out of the deal…a free iPod touch.
The silliest thing is that the only reason I’m writing this entry is so that I can try out the WordPress iPod application.
It’s kind of like that one time I posted about posting from Linux, except it’s considerably more trendy.
Well, we’ve up and gotten ourselves a pet. Don’t know what we’ll call her yet, but we know that she smells kind of bad. In all fairness, though, I think I’d probably smell kind of bad if I were locked in the bathroom all the time. I’d do it out of spite.
That said, I assure you that we will be letting her out of the bathroom soon enough; just got to make sure she knows the rules of the rest of the house really well before she gets to prowl around by herself.
Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to train a two-month-old kitten? So far I’m familiar with the “lightly-bap-her-face” technique, as well as the “spray-her-with-a-water-bottle-when-she’s-bad” technique, but I could always use some extra tips.
People down here have been talking lately about our need for rain. I don’t know much one way or another about how dangerously dry it’s been, since I’ve never been good at keeping up with that sort of thing. But I know one thing for sure: I miss North Dakota thunderstorms.
I think Jamie thinks it’s a bit weird to like the rain as much as I do; after all, when it rains in Denton it generally raises the smell of bird poop everywhere, and it’s not very pleasant. But the other day when we got home from somewhere and it was raining hard, I wouldn’t even get out of the car for a few minutes because I liked the sound so much. It was relaxing; it reminded me of sitting in the garage back home in Dakota with the door open, just watching the storm as it raged down.
It’s probably crazy to miss something like that, but heck, I liked it.
Well, we did it…this morning I put our Crusade staff applications in the mail, and they should arrive just in time for the Saturday deadline. Getting something like that done is always a big relief, but there’s still a good bit more waiting to do before we reach a point of decision. I’m excited to see what happens.
I’m excited and anxious this week…I’m about to start some pretty challenging temporary work with one of my favorite companies, and also a bit of substitute teaching. I have mixed feelings about both of those, but I am extremely happy to at least have some compensated work to do.
But I’m also excited this week, because Jamie and I are finally about to send off our staff applications for Campus Crusade; that’ll be a huge monkey off the back. We’re not sure if we’ll be accepted, nor are we absolutely sure that we’ll take the position, but at the moment it seems like our favorite prospect. So, I’m excited…I can’t even begin to tell you how blessed I was to be able to be a part of that ministry in college, and if I can contribute to someone else having the same experience…well, that’d be sweet.
More later. If you feel like praying for us, please do.
I’ve been to North Dakota more than usual over the last few months, and I think every time I’ve been up there it’s been suggested that I start a blog. Those of you who have suggested this know already how horrible I am about emailing regularly, and I strongly suspect that my blog activity will have the same failing. Nonetheless, I really want to keep in touch better, and maybe this is how to do it. So, for friends and family the whole country over, this post shall serve as my announcement of greater things to come. Or something like that…anyway, good-bye for now.
